Coloring Fun with Black and White Photos - brittainseatomint
My girls have been shutterbugs this summer, taking photo afterward photo of flowers in the yard, dressed-up full animals, and to each one other. Yay for digital photos!
We wanted to do a project with some of our summer photos, and then I suggested adding our own touches of color to dishonourable and white photographs. We had so much fun – we'll be having a repeat coloring session presently!
Coloring Fun with Black and White Photos
To get started, you testament need few smuggled and white photos. On the computer, I converted a couple of photos to black and white. If you take up the capabilities (I used iPhoto), lighten your photos a bit, and maybe addition the contrast. I just wish to lighten-astir the greys so the colors we add will show.
I printed our photos on white card stock. Ma photo composition would credibly work as healed. I longed-for approximately of the flower photos to become cards, so I written them at the bottom half of the theme. After food colouring, we can evenhanded fold those into beautiful gift-worthy birthday cards.
Now information technology's time to colour in! Make a point you print scores of photos, because you are going to want to join in the fun, too. We experimented with markers, crayons, colored pencils, and watercolors.
• Markers give shimmery color, but tend to overpower any details in the photograph. Stick out with light colors.
• Crayons and colored pencils worked well for layering color and did non hide out the details in the photo. One-sided pencils are perfect for small areas.
• Watercolors create a more abstract look. The water smears the printer ink, so answer not use too soggy of a brush. I almost couldn't tell it was a photo when I was done painting.
The girls had a blast coloring self-portraits. They preferred using a combining of colored pencils and crayons. As you can see, it's amusing to try out with crazy color combinations. World Health Organization says your skin can't be bright purple?
After an afternoon colour photos, I have so many project ideas swirling in my head for these helping hand-multicolor black and gabardine photos:
- birthday invitations
- Christmas card game
- birthday political party craft activity
- nontextual matter to give ear on the wall
- postcards to send to relatives or indite pals
I decidedly think I want unitary of these sunflower photos colored and framed for my wall. Do you think your kids would delight colouring their ain photos? I know mine would!
Happy crafting!
